Is the FN PS90 banned in Canada? Yes. The FN PS90 is prohibited in Canada. It was named in SOR/2024-248 (December 2024). The current amnesty for prohibited firearms expires 90 days after the latest Supreme Court appeal termination under SOR/2026-114.

Verdict
The FN PS90 is the civilian semi-automatic descendant of the FN P90 personal defense weapon — the calibre and the silhouette together made it one of the most visually recognized rifles on the Canadian market. The 5.7×28mm cartridge was designed specifically to penetrate body armour at handgun-equivalent distances, and the bullpup layout puts that capability in a 26-inch package. The Canadian PS90 was always going to be a difficult rifle to defend politically: the rubric scores it 13/15 not because of feature creep but because the *purpose* of the platform is what the OIC criteria reach. SOR/2024-248 named it. The platform is also the case study for the editorial argument the Index makes — sometimes the rubric and the policy agree. The PS90 is one of those times.
